ON COLLECTION
Inspiration
The collection for Spring/Summer 2020 has been inspired by the work of an eminent artist —Ana Mendieta. But how this inspiration came about? Well, we wanted to dive into sensual realm, open ourselves to the primary feeling of the body in nature.
Design
Individual pieces has been designed to serve their wearer day-to-night and are multifunctional per se. However, there is a distinct, slightly ironic thought visible behind each of them which makes them variations of style sets for specific occasions (there are proposals for all of them: office, garden party, red carpet but also reading on a couch, afternoon date and evening walk on the beach).
As always in Acephala collections there is a rich mixture of textures. Clothes are decorated with patches, cording and pin tucks detailing. Classical forms and minimalist shapes receive volume by the use of gathering, bias cutting and off-the-body tailoring. The idiosyncratic element of the collection are sculpturous layered wavy sleeves, cut-outs and architectural cuts in skirts. The novelty are bustier corset tops in unorthodox versions.
Highlights
The collection offers a full range of clothing: easy to wear t-shirt and shirt dresses, semi-formal maxi dresses, unconventional white shirts, strap tops, patchwork longsleeve tops, offbeat suits, statement skirts and extravagant silk taffeta coat which goes with all from the above.
Production
The whole collection has been produced with luxury and sustainable fabrics from Portugal and Italy: organic and experimental cottons, tencel crepe, organic virgin wool, silk taffeta, cupro and Alcantara.
The collection will be expanded to SS2020 season with an introduction of custom prints and knitwear.
