Jokoto is the creative vision of designers Eloise Atwell & Hannah Bartlett, who met in Bath and now run the label from their studio in central Bristol.

Hannah graduated in fashion innovation and management from the UCA Rochester in 2008. She was nominated for the creative cut award at graduate fashion week. She prefers to approach designing through draping on the stand. Since graduating she has worked in tailoring and bespoke clothing, which has had a strong influence on how she approaches fit and construction. Her inquisitive relationship with the cut of garments inspire her to create designs which flow seamlessly.

Eloise completed her degree at Bath Spa in fashion and textile design, finishing the course in the fashion department of the university. During her degree she experimented with many textile construction and manipulation techniques, as well as traditional pattern cutting, that developed her regard for the malleable relationship between construction and fabric. She now works as a stylist, pursuing her study of the dynamic between the mechanics of technical design and the emotional force of the visual image created.

Eloise & Hannah share the designing process. Starting with the initial feeling that they want to portray, they move on to gathering research and sketching designs. Most of the design happens on the stand, as both find working in 3D makes the development of the collection more organic.

Jokoto's ethos is to use UK manufacturers and high quality fabrics from Europe.
