LIINA VIIRA

Liina Viira is a Swedish-Estonian designer passionate about wool and patterns. Her colourful knitwear collections are inspired by the patterns from the past, yet they speak a contemporary language. Although born and raised in Stockholm, her Estonian roots have always been present in her upbringing. In 2006, after having moved to Tallinn, Estonia, she created her first collection and won III prize at the local fashion contest Supernoova. In 2009 Liina Viira established her independent knitwear brand.
In the course of working with patterns she has come to understanding that the DNA of ethnicity is universal, no matter where it geographically originates from. This endless heritage of world culture has kept her in the process of renewing, reinventing and evolving. Her love for natural materials is visible throughout all her collections - wool, leather, wood, cotton etc.
Liina Viira is a believer of functional and timeless design. A garment should last longer than one short season, both design and quality wise. She puts effort in creating sustainable production processes. Everything is produced locally and the designer has met everyone involved in the process.
As long as people feel warm, cozy, happy and elegant in her designs, she's happy too!
