My collection explores different
facets of the role of pioneering and prominent
women in politics, especially in roles such as:
Female Prime Ministers
First female Muslim Prime Minister
Female government ministers
First lady of a male US president
First female VP of USA.

This collection is about body language and dressing
women in a predominantly patriarchal society.
Her clothing is her shield and she is confident

As tailoring is the most common formal wear
worn in official working environments I used
couture led construction techniques as the
foundation of this collection.Its classic lines
and structured shapes create strong silhouettes
that are concurrently soft.There are pleats for
sure but in AWAL they complement the appearance
of power and strength often conveyed in
traditional tailoring.

Calligraphy as part of my signature style is also
used in design details, sometimes appears as embellishment
and sometimes as structure of the garment.

Some design elements also reflect the seemingly
vulnerable and fragile nature of the female
body. No matter how hard we may try to appear
externally, internally humans can feel fragile
with sensitivities more visible in some
personalities than in others.
