Nina Sakowskas collection ‘’Trash’’ is a protest against fast fashion. The designer felt she couldn't ignore the apathy of this trend and its blindness towards its social impact.
The collection is a reflection of her postulates. Old blankets, duvets and drapes, material cuttings, items found in second hand shops and moreover that found at their suppliers - all comprised the ingredients of "Trash".
The jewellery and masks were repurposed from PLA and ABS waste products originating from 3D printing. Prototypes of the glasses were devised from plexi cuttings. The material with a cracked veneer was custom created for this collection.
Inspiration for "Trash" is derived from the work of Japanese photographer Hirohiko Araki, street art and the clothing of the indigenous tribes of Tibet. Arthur Rimbaut's poetry provided the quotes for the embroidery.
All looks were created in line with the designer’s conscience.
Her name is Nina Sakowska - she sees beauty in the unwanted.
