MO SAIQUE

MO SAÏQUE was created by Afua Dabanka - a banker turned footwear designer by way of London College of Fashion. Known by friends and family as “Mo,” Dabanka created the luxury shoe brand to reflect her own authentically international upbringing and perspective. Born in Germany to Ghanaian parents and now based in London, Dabanka is a true Global Native with a refined aesthetic that’s been shaped by contemporary style palettes from Europe and Africa.

In 2006, Afua took her first course in footwear design at the London College of Fashion resulting in the conviction that designing shoes is the only job for her. Over the years she attended various shoe design and shoe making courses, studied everything relating to shoes and visited various shoe factories and fairs in Europe to gain valuable know how. MO SAÏQUE was eventually launched in March 2011.

Afua draws creative inspiration for her designs from the extraordinary interplay of her unique background. Her Ghanaian heritage is evident in the rich and bold selection of colours and prints, combined with a strong influence of Germany’s clean-cut silhouettes.

Tastemakers and those with access to the world’s best fashion and design love the classic silhouettes accented by on-trend style elements, which make MO SAÏQUE footwear fashion relevant, yet timeless. Though new to the market, MO SAÏQUE has been seen on the red carpets at the Cannes Film Festival, F1 Amber Lounge Fashion Show in Monaco, the V&A Afropolitan Fashion Show and the Vertu Vogue Festival in London. Most recently, MO SAÏQUE heels were the first choice of Noisettes leading woman Shingai Shoniwa for her promotional shoot of her new single “Winner” in time for the London 2012 Olympics and 24hrs with Ford Fiesta commercial.

The latest celebrity and face of BET’s 106 & Park, Angela Simmons has also become a fan of MO SAÏQUE heels.
