Mimi-Zikki is Mia Zielinski's first official clothing label and somewhat of an alter-ego.
Mia does not like to be confined to one creative genre or label and considers herself to be a cross-disciplinary, inter-artist and designer.
Her background in fine art, wearable art, theater tech and costumes, film and most predominantly fashion design have given her a taste for pursuing multiple avenues at once, merging and melding them into interesting, strange, quirky and beautiful creations and performances.

Her latest attempt is to somehow channel these influences into a clothing line and share her vision and experience with others in a more accessible way.

She recently interned with Bernhard Willhelm in LA and has gained a new perspective on the fashion industry and a fresh injection of motivation and inspiration.

She has a strong interest in the Slow fashion movement and aims to incorporate sustainable textiles as much as possible within her new designs.
The presentation of her ideas usually takes on the form of kooky short films which serve to immerse the viewer in the experience.
Her label MIMI-ZIKKI had it's debut within the Melbourne Spring Fashion week curated program to great success and is now available online.
MIMI-ZIKKI will be showcasing the next collection within the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival's curated program in march 2015 in collaboration with esteemed jeweler Ana Ostrom from Sweden.

The Never Never Picnic

This Autumn/winter 2015 collection champions the native Australian dessert creatures in two highly original print designs for mens and womens street wear.
The over-sized Silhouettes were inspired by the Shingle back lizards unique and striking, overlapping scale shapes.
Taking colour inspirational cues from the iconic Australian artist, Ken Done, as well as traditional tribal body-painting patterns by Australian Aboriginals, and the organic shapes of tropical rainforest palm seedpods- the Never never Picnic carefully and playfully integrates these elements into the design details of sports and street wear.

Ustilizing some wonderful eco textiles including Hemp, organic cotton, recycled PET and bamboo, these fabrics are hand dyed into rich aubergine and plum colours and are offset by pale pastel pinks, cool blues and charcoals.
The light wight neoprene and Cotton Poplin digital printed fabrics display some of Australia's most colourful wildlife in striking repeats.

For this collection MIMI-ZIKKI collaborated with the talented Swedish designer Ana Ostrom, who created hand crafted silver jewelery pieces to go with each outfit. These pieces were also based on the lizard scale and palm seed pod, but also replicate life sized saltwater crocodile teeth resulting in gnarly yet beautiful shapes.

Each piece by both Ana and MIMI-ZIKKI is made to order and is strictly limited edition.
