Hailed as "the true poetess of clothing", Marit is a multi-disciplinary artist and fashion designer mixing deep concepts with feelings, sensitivity and eye-catching form in whatever medium she is currently working at. She has created costumes, site-specific atmospheres, exhibition, interior and set designs. Her latest works include newly opened restaurant "LORE" atmosphere design in Tallinn and monumental piece "77 chintzes“ at KUMU Modern Art Museum and Estonian National Museum.
Trained first as a pattern maker in Tallinn, and studying at Danish Design School in Copenhagen, Marit graduated with Master Degree in Fashion Design from the Estonian Academy of Arts in 2008. She then gained experience in London, Antwerp, Paris and Berlin. In 2013 Ilison founded a creative design atelier together with her brother Peeter Ilison. Marit Ilison Creative Atelier works to support and promote the meaningful fashion model by combining luxury, slow and sustainable fashion, unique design and ultimate craftsmanship to create memorable customer experience.
Ilison’s works has been featured by the top international publications like Vogue, ELLE, The New York Times, L'Officiel and WWD among others.
