Nowadays we live in a changing world that cries out for guidance in how to do better, but it all starts with yourself and who you are. There are so many layers to unravel and dive into, but as of today I’m still on that journey of figuring out who that is.

I am an intuitive textile designer who has ADHD. Through my eyes I see different paths that connect and link in one another. I see the vulnerability of the materials and the ways I use to connect them in the tapestries that I design. By using a social and intuitive approach is how I show that feeling.

A feeling that you get once you see it. A feeling I will take you through on my journey.

inside my mind

ADHD. A subject that I recognise myself in. Often over-stimulated, difficulties with concentrating, restless, and at the same time not understood by others because they do not know how to deal with ADHD. Through my work I want to inspire others to talk about ADHD. For those who suffer from ADHD, for the people in their immediate environment but also for the people who suspect they have ADHD.

Having ADHD shapes me as an intuitive designer. I use weaving to find structure, especially when I am lost in my own thoughts. This allows me to express myself. All stimuli, emotions, structure, and balance are located in those tissues. I want to spread awareness about ADHD. But also want to reach people who recognise themselves in these tapestries and make them feel understood, visually.

'Inside my mind' is a collection that contains three pieces that tell a different gradation of finding the balance with ADHD. Every moment can be different. The separate elements of tranquility and stimuli, both from the inside and outside, connect together as one. The pieces express a mix of stimulations, emotions, distractions, structure, and incomprehension that comes with having ADHD.
