Kira Zander is a fashion designer with a strong connection to nature from where she constantly draws new impulses for her collections through its diversity and variability.
A particular concern of the Designer is the use of handwork. In every collection you will find pieces of clothing that were knitted, crocheted or woven. These pieces are often in haptic contrast to the rest of the collection which creates an exciting opposition. She attaches great importance to natural and sustainable design, which is why only organic materials that promise high quality and durability are used.
Her love of detail is revealed through her use of accessories such as earrings or homemade wooden handles for handbags.
The patterns of the collections are very reduced and genderless, making them timeless, versatile and combinable in different ways
The collection „Momentum“ stems from the desire for a more conscious and sustainable approach from fashion to nature, a collection to pause and perceive. Perceive the unique an d multi-layered nature we have. Perceive how valuable it is for each of us and how easy it is to suppress. The collection „Momentum“ captures this moment of the inside and nature and reflects its complexity and sensitivity. The impulse for this work came from reed plants, which grow on flowing or standing waters and form a transition from land to water. Symbolically, the reed plant stands here in the context of the transition to a reflected behavior of the human being. The collection is multi layerd and sybolizes the complexity of our nature, invites you to pause, perceive and reflect. The lower layer consists of delicate organic cotton, which lies in irregular folds and gives a moving play as soon as light winds hits them. For the two layers above, I worked with the Berliner Textilhafen and processed eight kilos of old wool sweaters into new textile surfaces. Further upcycled wool has found its way into it in the form of three-dimensional shapes, which are crocheted or knotted. The look is rounded off by hats, which I have made from old chinese reeds and wool. It is a collection to stimulate, perceive and trace. Female Model: Lisa Herkenberg // Male Model: David Ketels
