WOMAN OF VALOUR is a knitwear collection that draws from my
selective experiences as an Orthodox Jewish woman in a secular world.
My relationship with religion has fashioned the core of my identity
offering the values and guidelines to which I live. Amongst some of the
restrictions and boundaries it places, I look up to the faith and its
positive and empowering attitude towards women, where at the core of
every biblical story lies a strong female heroine. WOMAN OF VALOUR is
a personal reflection on the dichotomy of the constriction and freedom
that my religion gives me.
WOMAN OF VALOUR draws inspiration from art and photography
exploring the female body and its boundaries. The female body has
often been tied and bound by society to look and behave a certain
way, the intimate quality of the imagery exposes the sensitivity,
vulnerability and fragility attached to the stripped back female body. I
look to the raw and delicate beauty of the body merging the naïve and
innocent with the strong and powerful.
