In Dirt and Sequins collection punk aesthetics of patches, checks, and leather are mixed up with statement sleeves of silk blouses that take us back to Californian disco parties. Inspiration initially came from Derek Ridgers’ photo archive portraying night life of UK and US with all the subcultural diversity of 70s and 80s. The gonzo spirit was smoothed out by adding the minimalism of emerging art of that time and finally sleeked by using quality fabrics. As usual, several movies’ atmosphere and costume design were topped up – How to Talk to Girls at Parties and Antonio Lopez 1970: Sex, Fashion and Disco among the sources. IMPUGN’s must-haves were added to the collection as well as some new basic pieces.
