Hazza is a Ghanaian based Unisex brand birthed in the year
2013. Hassan Alfaziz Iddrisu , is the brain behind Hazza.
The brand’s creative direction is steered towards ethical articles of clothing and accessories.
After hiatus, Hazza unveils its SS19 collection themed “Afrafradom” Which was inspired by the flags and his mother's hometown folks, The Fantes.
The Fante Warriors are known as the “Asafo” hailing from the Coastal Region Of Ghana..The word is derived from “SA” meaning (War) and “FO” meaning the (People).
These are the traditional warrior groups in Akan culture, their traditional role was defending the city states during the [18th Century]period, the height of slave trade. Asafo companies were formed to protect individuals against abduction, violence and maintain peace and order amongst the people.Aside their military role, the Asafo companies are also connected to some of the most interesting and vibrant art forms of the region.The Asafo flags are the insignia created for the military companies of the Fantes.They embody a company spirit and they are the most important and dynamic visual display of Asafo pride and power.Asafo flags convey powerful narratives of pride,historical events,visualize proverbial wisdom and send defiant messages to enemies. Currently there are ten Asafo companies. And Hazza’s Afrafradom SS19 adds to be the eleventh and last.
In the view of this collection, the Afrafradom company preserves the memory of their role as the protectors and the defenders of the Ghanaian culture, and enact their protective role by keeping the cultural norms and values alive and in check.
