The catalyst for starting GRAMMAR came Out Of misfortune. In early 2016, Althea's apartment building burned down and she lost all of her belongings. The difficulty she felt trying to replace her wardrobe lead her to conclude that the perfect garments for her life did not yet exist. A fan of iconic wardrobe essentials, Althea decided to apply her eye for detail and nuance to the challenge of creating the perfect white shirt.

Grammar designer Althea Simons holds an MBA in Entrepreneurial Management from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania; a BS in Neuroscience from Brown University, and an AAS in Fashion Design from Parsons, The New School for Design. Her fashion and retail experience includes time at Yeohlee, Inc. and Issey Miyake, USA.

Mediterranean vacation. 50's glamour. Dior costumes for Tilda Swinton in "A Bigger Splash." Monica Vitti in "L'Avventura." Freedom, release, abandon, being, no judgement, no conflict. Sensuality, feeling against your skin, savoring, doing what feels right and good. Enlightened Simplicity, essential, love, pursuit of perfection, timeless, elegant.

These are the images that were on my mood board and the ideas on my mind when designing our new styles and colors and planning our photoshoot in Greece.

The colors were inspired by the natural beauty of the sea and sky. 50's glamour shows up in the column shape of the Quotation Dress and the easy elegance of the Compound Conjunction Shirt. You can feel the freedom and sensuality of our new Greece lookbook - feelings that are so relevant and important right now.

The last set of words are brand values I remind myself of whenever I design. Most importantly, I put my love, my passion, my heart and soul into everything I design, and it's all for you – so that you feel my love when you put on a Grammar shirt or dress, and you love it right back.
