Fiona Harrington studied textile design at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin. She graduated in 2013 and was the only person in the country to specialise in Handmade Irish Lace. In 2012, she began an internship at The Kenmare Lace and Design Centre, Co. Kerry, where she acquired traditional lace-making techniques. The preservation of this indigenous practice is of huge importance and she believes this can only be achieved through progression and development of new stitches and designs.
Her work is concerned with the Re- Presentation of this fashion fabric through an exploration of research based design work and innovative display possibilities.
