One of the inspirations for Filip Bejek’s collection was a dutch/Chinese fashion designer Fong Leng. She has been a presence in the Dutch fashion world in the 1970s and ’80s at the peak of her career and is still up until today portrayed as one of the most eccentric and extravagant fashion designers, setting the foundation for the Dutch fashion scene for coming generations.
Filip Bejek took social and cultural issues as inspiration ,with a combination of FONG LENG'S DNA to visualize a destructive path which we are walking on in the era of global changes. it focuses also on emotional and physical well being, as it is foreseen for the future. As a designer I had a choice whether to lay my focus on negative or positive side and chose negativity because It is so much more powerful and inspirational to me, however, it does offer a solution at the end. Usage and discovery of sustainable materials gave me new perspective on how fashion industry can/can not be circular.
