My name is Adesewa Adeniyi and I am a pioneer menswear designer currently based in Lagos, Niger. I GraduateD with a FiRst class honors in BA Fashion at the UNIVERSITY of hertFordshire.

I use every work I create as a voice and to fill whatever void I felt was lacking within art and the world as a whole. My current collection has been crafted to do exactly that, ÈKÓ 29:11 gives masculinity a different definition from a perspective that I felt was missing.

ÈKÓ 29:11 offers a spring summer 19 menswear collection with a relaxed fit and eclectic mix of fabrics for the summer and reflects a style for a man confident about his sexuality. The collection demonstrates an effortless use of quirky details with a mix of short sleeve T-shirts and long sleeve shirts matched with easy fit trousers to give off that cool look. It shows a strong influence of traditional Nigerian menswear creating a link with an alté street style. The collection title, ÈKÓ 29:11, refers to the vibrant city of Lagos also known as ÈKÓ in Yoruba, and the digits 29:11 is made up of a personal verse with a deeper meaning.

ÈKÓ 29:11 takes you on a journey through Lagos and the hustle that leaves a conflicted presence on anyone that encounters the city. As you explore the collection you are moved to see how the busy print reflects on the vibrant yet hectic lifestyle of Lagos, and the big shirts play on the larger than life hearts of Lagosians. ÈKÓ 29:11 invites you to encounter dynamic colours and materials that have been used to evoke the feeling of life as a Lagos big boy.

Depicting the Lagos version of masculinity, you see the elegance of a well-groomed man living a “chilled” lifestyle. Long shirts paired with easy fitted trousers made with soft and breathable fabrics reflect on the humid tropical weather in the busy city.
