Origin Passion & Beliefs: Calling All Designers 2016

Origin Passion & Beliefs: Calling All Designers 2016

Following the success of Origin Passion and Belief in 2014 and 2015, NJAL will once again work with Fiera di Vicenza in identifying and selecting 50 innovative fashion talents from around the world to take part in building incredible experiences, gaining insights and making connections. Designers may now register their interest in participating in this unique opportunity.

Origin Passion and Beliefs (OPB) 6-8th September is the only capsule show in the world that brings together Italy’s most distinguished manufacturers and suppliers with 50 innovative emerging fashion design talents from five continents. OPB shines the world’s spotlight on pioneering emerging fashion design and is a hub where new business opportunities emerge and creativity is truly supported.

The Story

Launched in 2014, OPB began as a partnership between Fiera di Vicenza S.p.A., the leading organiser of trade shows and premium events in the jewellery sector and NOT JUST A LABEL. Conceived to reinvigorate and support the world-famous industrial and artisanal eco-systems in Italy, OPB took place in 2014 and 2015 in a custom-built 15,000 sqm pavilion in Vicenza, Italy. In 2016, OPB moves to Milan to take place in the Milan Rho-Pero trade fair quarter with Milano Unica, joining other prestigious trade fairs including Ideabiella, Ideacomo, Moda In, Prato Expo and Shirt Avenue which have been presenting Italian and European fabrics and accessories for 30 years. This move is supported by the Made in Italy Promotion Plan, established by Carlo Calenda, Minister of Economic Development, with the aim to add greater value to the Italian supply chain and fashion systems.

The aim of OPB is to bring together Italian traditional and regional manufacturing houses with NJAL's innovative, emerging design talents from five continents. The collaboration provides designers with the unique opportunity to network with the fashion's most esteemed craftsmen and industry buyers. The coming together of visionary design with production houses will plant seeds of inspiration for a fashion industry of the future, encourage slow fashion and support both the craftsmen of Italian manufacturing and the emerging designers who attend the showcase.

The showcase will once again be split into four key 'industrial clusters' - Leather, Stone, Textiles, Technology - a concept based on the distinctive industrial clustering in Northern Italy. In light of the move to Milan the curation and production of the event will this year be executed by Fiera di Vicenza in collaboration with Milano Unica. NJAL will be present at the show and on hand to support designers with any queries.

NJAL's Partner — Fiera di Vicenza

Fiera di Vicenza S.p.A. is ranked as the world’s top player for the gold and jewellery industry, thanks to the VICENZAORO trade show, a brand now exported to the most important international fairs in Hong Kong, Las Vegas, São Paulo, Mumbai and Dubai. Fiera di Vicenza is a vital protagonist with strong leadership ambitions in the luxury and lifestyle sector. Matteo Marzotto, the President of Fiera di Vicenza, is the sixth generation of an Italian textile dynasty who gained international renown with his turnaround of luxury brands Valentino and Vionnet. He describes Origin Passion & Beliefs as “an international hub for the best artisans and craftsmen in Italy to enable them to best promote their products.”

What Origin Passion and Beliefs Has to Offer

Exhibiting designers will benefit from exposure to international press and buyers as well as the design councils, schools and fashion incubators who will be showcasing their activities alongside the designers and manufacturers. The event will spark the vital exchange of expertise between traditional crafts and innovative creativity that is at the event’s heart, creating the blueprint for a new model of regional development, sustainable production and ethical approach to the fashion, jewellery and accessory sectors.

What OPB/ Fiera di Vicenza will provide

At a significantly subsidised rate of £650, NJAL and Fiera di Vicenza will award selected designers with:

- Designers must have produced a minimum of 6 commercial collections previously, showcased on their NJAL profile;
- Designers must have previously showcased their label at one or more trade shows;
- Designers must showcase an up-to-date NJAL profile with their latest collections, information and contact details. If you do not currently have a NJAL account and profile, please click here to create one.

Designers wishing to be considered should register their interest here by Friday 24th June 2016. All applications will be reviewed by NJAL and successful designers will be required to return a confirmation form and pay the reservation fee.

To confirm commitment to the project, the reservation fee of £650 from all selected designers is required by Monday 4th July 2016.
