The Abury Design Experience

NJAL have teamed up with Harper’s Bazaar Germany to present a unique open call for emerging design talent to preserve world crafts and culture. The Abury Design Experience calls on designers to create an accessory capsule collection for Abury using traditional crafts knowledge from different cultures. Winners will be receive a budget up to €5,000 and will spend up to three months either in Morocco or Ecuador. Apply before March 8th 2015.

ABURY is the first fashion platform that brings together traditional, old world crafts with avant-garde design to create a new luxury style that fosters intercultural exchange . The Abury Design Experience (ADEx) seeks to revive a fading handicrafts spirit among young designers, and urge them to invigorate declining artisanal heritage by appying a modern design sensibility and forward-thinking vision 

Once again, the ABURY Design Experience returns for 2015 in search of emerging designers to create an accessory capsule collection using traditional crafts knowledge from different cultures. Two winners will receive a travel and production budget up to €5000 and will spend up to three months either in Morocco or Ecuador, creating their collection with local artisans for roughly three months. The collections will be marketed and sold under the name of ABURY and the designer and 50% of the profits will be re-invested into education projects

Abury is looking for graduate students in fashion or accessory design, or recently established fashion/accessories designers who have a passion for crafts, culture, and cutting-edge modern design

- Minimum age: 21 years old
- Maximum 5 years after graduation
- Availability from July to October 2015
- Any nationalities are welcomed

Deadline Information
Applications are now open until Sunday 8th March 2015 and require a visual portfolio and pitch video outlining  why they want to be part of the Abury Design Experience

Harper’s Bazaar Germany and ABURY will select 10 designers for the semi-finals, and two will be chosen as winners in the final-round. One winner will be selected through online voting, and the other by the prestigious jury panel that includes including Bibi Russell, Fashion for Development; Kerstin Schneider, Editor in Chief, Harper’s Bazaar Germany; Stefan Siegel, CEO, NOT JUST A LABEL; Diana Verde Nieto, CEO Positive Luxury; and more.

For The 10 Finalists
The chosen 10 finalists will be featured within our online public voting throug the ABURY Design Experience website
The finalists will also have the possibility to have their profiles listed on NOT JUST A LABEL

For The Two Winners

- The winners will become part of ABURY’s collection designers
- The winners will be featured on the ABURY website with a photo, CV and an interview
- The winners will be invited to come to Berlin from Friday 3rd July until Saturday 11th  July 2015 to attend several exclusive events and workshops provided by our sponsors and partners
- Exclusive workshops with partners Harper’s Bazaar Germany, Positive Luxury, KPMG, and a feature on NOT JUST A LABEL's website
