White wood beads are strung then dip-dyed. The bottom two-thirds of the necklaces are dipped in a light mixture and then dried, afterwhich the bottom one-third is dipped into a darker mixture to achieve the desired effect.

White wood is a renewable material, where only branches are cut off so the tree continue to thrive. These beautiful gradated hues are achieved by dying the constructed pieces numerous times in increasingly strong mixtures. Upon completion, the pieces are sealed with a matte finish to secure the vibrancy of its colours.

On the other hand, disc-shaped Capiz shell is white in colour & by nature thin & brittle. It is first peeled to remove the rough outer skin & then cut into desired shape. And it is commonly used in home furnishing such as chandelier lighting & ornaments. Because of its fragility, it is uncommon material for delicate accessories. However, my makers have found that when applied with a thin protective matte resin layer, capiz shell becomes increasingly durable & flexible with an opaque natural iridescence, which is achieved after roasting or baking them. It is then dyed into different colours before coating them. The protective resin coat keeps it sturdy & resistant to flaking & breakage.
