The collection “Walking the streets of New York” is inspired by the never sleeping city of dreams – New York. It is created by Latvian designer Michelle Shehurina and her husband street artist Yuris Svans.
TOOCHE brand works with sustainable materials, that is why such environmentally friendly materials as natural wool felt and Pinatex, a vegan alternative to leather were chosen as primary materials for the collection. Each pair is carefully handcrafted by skilful workers in brand’s own manufactory in Riga. The new collection is already available for purchase at brand’s website www.tooche.me and in selected stores worldwide.
“The last time I visited New York we took a long walk on the streets and what inspired me most were bright markings on the pavement made with a spray paint” – says Michelle. That is why in each pair from the collection you can find a bright accent in red, orange or yellow color.

While Yuris adds: “New York is a heart of street art, it is everywhere in the city, it is an endless source of inspiration; and personally me it inspired to take the spray paint and apply it not on the walls like always, but on parts of our shoes, such as ribbons and laces. This was the starting point for the collection”.
Other details of the collection have their symbols too. For example, rough texture of tweed fabric used for some pairs is inspired by the walls with freshly torn posters, which are all over the New York city. While sequin sparkle on the fabric is a reflection of the lights of night Manhattan in the smooth surface of the Hudson river.
“Life is an interesting thing,” – says Michelle. “We brought our impression of capital of the world back home to Riga and created the collection. And then we returned back to New York to present it to the world!”
