For Spring/Summer 2018, there was an interest to dissect and almost fetishize American wealth with this collection. I studied America’s “royalty” and its acquisitions of the natural world - the Cabinet of Curiosities. I looked at various periods of the 20th century - the Gilded Age, 1950s, 1970s, 1990s - and sought to distill the various styles from these periods and their characters into one mood for today. There are pieces that are of the earth, and pieces that are more rich and decadent.

This Woman's Work is designed and manufactured in New York City by Kendra Benson. The research-driven collections are defined by strong narrative, sublime materials, collage, play with volume, and beautiful finishing, with many pieces riffing on traditional "dressmaker" shapes and details. Kendra was raised and educated in the Midwest – receiving her B.S. in Textile and Apparel Design from the University of Nebraska in 2005. The vision of This Woman’s Work is to continue creating meaningful and imaginative collections that inspire the wearer in the same way the creator was inspired.
