Graduation year

2009

Sivan started working as a goldsmith in 2003 and graduated from Shenkar College of Design and Engineering in 2009. She worked for 6 years as head designer in Nurith Jaglom Studio for fashion jewelry while producing and selling her own line of handmade contemporary jewelry.
During that period, she began exploring the integration of miniatures in wearable jewelry. Fascinated by the concept of laterna magica ("magic lantern") and the creation of magical scenes with a smart use of materials, she created prototype capsules with elements inside them that would eventually evolve into the "Little Boxes" series. Inspired by the works of 19th century jewelry masters, she remained loyal to traditional techniques when further working on the series. She also chose to stick to the classic, timeless shape of the pendants and cast her own contemporary vision into them.

The Little Boxes series features a set of scenes from a magical miniature world, sculpted within gold capsules worn as pendants. In contrast to the mostly classic shape of the capsules, the inner worlds elements make a contemporary collection of figurative themes that echo a universal human experience, depicting human and natural symbols. The main theme is that of THE JOURNEY.
The project combines art and wearable jewelry design in a new way, yet to be tagged in the present jewelry design world. It aims to expand boundaries of fashion and be adorned across generations. The pieces are individually produced from raw metal in the maker’s studio with a high-level fine finish. Gemstones are subtly integrated in some of the objects, enhancing the mise en scène of the inner world.
