While assessing factories in Vietnam, I met a woman whose story changed my life. She sewed as a bonded laborer & her child sold postcards to help ease her debt. I had no intention to “do good” but I was compelled by their story to understand how an industry that provides creative freedom to so many denies others of basic liberty. I felt compelled to tap into a decade of corporate finance experience to find a balance between profitability & social responsibility. Having access to leaders at the largest conglomerate of factories in Vietnam was a motivation for me to promote systemic change. With experience at all levels of the supply chain from designing to factory operations to trade show merchandizing, I have the unique portfolio of experience to provide a retail buyer with an ethical choice for production. I understand their business needs but can encourage empathy for the human tolls. My personal project to help a mother & child in 2008 has expanded into an organization that address design, environmental impact, & community development as integral tenets of our operation thus serving both business clients & producers at the fringe. While our business is fashion and our objective is to deliver comprehensive ethical manufacturing, our social mission is to address poverty and mend communities one stitch at a time
