Emerging menswear designer, Rosie Franco, specialises in pattern making and construction. Having recently completed a Bachelor of Fashion and Textile Design (Hons.) at the University of Technology, Sydney, her passion and skills lie in soft tailoring and fit, with an understanding of fabric, colour, tone and pattern. She practices in menswear, balancing masculinity and the classic appeal of menswear with a sensitivity to cultural dress codes. In short, her unique aesthic can be described as soft, layered and geometric. Her love of print and colour led her to also specialise in screenprinting of geometric textiles and hand dyeing. She has a love of hand processes and being able to create something from start to finish knowing that it is unique and of high quality.

Sandolan

Sandolan fuses Islamic fashion with traditional Western tailoring, constructing a sartorial identity through combining and layering various types of garments to create an outfit. Combining Islamic and geometric inspired textiles with the restricted colour palette of tonal blue and accents of white, deconstructed traditional Islamic dress is reconstructed within Western tailoring. The result is a modern take on tailoring that plays with traditional proportions through the use of clean lines, asymmetry and, boxy, exaggerated silhouettes enhanced through screenprinting and hand dyeing processes. It is about finding the balance between masculinity and the classic appeal of menswear while trying to maintain a sensitivity towards cultural dress codes.
