“Happiness is a warm puppy.”
Dog ownership nowadays bears closer resemblance to ownership of an accessory than ownership of a living creature. In order to explore this issue I replaced the dog with a handbag in my degree collection. The attraction of owning a dog as an accessory is that the outward appearance as well as the character of the owner gradually converge. The aim is to reflect these aspects in the design of handbag and dress.
The owner becomes the dress, the dog becomes the handbag. The design process begins with two-dimensional pictures of fighting dogs which are stuck to a woman’s body. The resulting irony is intended to prompt the observer to consider what function the dog has taken on as a companion in our society.
