Born and raised in China, Libo Zhou was fascinated by watching her grandmother, who was a tailor and always recycled household objects for new purposes. This is where her interest for fashion design and material exploration started. She then went on to receive her B.F.A in Fibers and M.F.A in Fashion at Savannah College of Art and Design where she pursued womenswear with an emphasize on fabric manipulation and innovative prints. While studying, she interned for Proenza Schouler, Tibi, 3.1 Phillip Lim and Diane Von Furstenberg. She has also worked as an embellishment freelancer for See+Quin embellishment studio.

Libo Zhou’s designs have a sense of playfulness with interactive elements explored in print and construction as well as colors. With her collection, she incorporates dimensional prints with heat and light sensitive pigments, and plays with texture and colors. Her designs integrate hidden details and reversible elements, the silhouettes are twisted from traditional shapes and changed with innovative pattern cutting.

ON THE WAY HOME

"What you see is what people wants you to see”.

In China, millions of migrant workers pack onto trains, buses, and motorcycles leaving megacities, traveling even for days to reunion with their families in the rural part of the country for Spring Festival.

No matter how tough their city lives are, they never tell their families their difficulties. Instead, every time when they go back home, they only show their families the glamour side of their city lives through the new clothes they are wearing and gifts in their over-packed luggage.

ON THE WAY HOME is a playful womenswear collection that integrates changeable prints and reversible elements. All the jackets in the collection are reversible and depending on the temperature and the lighting environment, different prints and messages on the garments show and hide. Through the revealing and concealing elements, wearer can choose to deliver different messages to the viewer.
