JANETONIC was founded in mid-2013 by Eva Schatz in Salzburg. Her first autumn/winter 2015 collection ‘DEEP SEA’ has been available exclusively online at www.janetonic.com since October. This was after almost two years of being in the design phase, doing research and training in the areas of sustainability, focusing on fair trade, and sourcing organic and recycled materials (i.a. in Berlin)!

The trained fashion designer had pursued an international career as a tattoo artist with her own studio in Salzburg after studying graphic design. This was before she decided to return to her second passion – fashion – with her modern interpretation of eco-fashion, colorful designs and urban cuts, finally freeing them of their dusty image.

The debut collection is dedicated to the theme “Oceans”. Water is the most important resource on Earth. Unfortunately, the clothing industry is currently the second largest water contaminant in the world. The oceans as essential habitats will be destroyed by the chemicals and wastewater from trade and industry, among other things, if humanity does not change its behavior soon.

With this in mind, designer Eva Schatz took the beauty of marine flora and fauna as her theme and worked her magic with watercolor painting and graphic design to transform it into unique, luminous, kaleidoscopic prints with high recognition value.

Unisex sweaters, gym bags, midi sweater dresses – each model in one of the three different, limited front prints. The autumn/winter 2015/16 collection is also a virtual journey through the sounds of the psychedelic 1970s, the 1980s rock, the 1990s hip hop, and the techno of the early 2000s. Inspired by jellyfish, fish, corals, clams, and water, all of the above was transformed into three different textile designs that encourage sustainability and love for the environment without wagging a finger!

Avant-garde, eye-catching design, urban and casually timelessness, unisex cuts, coupled with sustainability and the absolute transparency of the production chain – that is the credo of the 32-year-old fashion designer from Salzburg. Therefore, all textiles are selected very carefully and deliberately. The ingredients used at JANETONIC must meet the highest quality standards and be certified or recycled in accordance with the sustainable seal of quality GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard). In order to achieve short transport distances and full control, the production takes place entirely in Austria and will be extended to GOTS certified companies in Germany in the future.

The vegan designer focuses her entire attention on the fair and environmentally sustainable production of her collection. Out of love for animals, she consciously renounces materials such as wool, silk, or leather. Only certified materials of the highest quality are used.

JANETONIC thereby balances contemporary prints of colorful, avant-garde streetwear, and sustainable fashion.

True to the motto: “Eco finally can and may be ‘fashion’!”
