IRINA KRASILNIKOVA

The new collection “Patina” illustrates Irina Krasilnikova’s signature style of integrating both feminine and quixotic aspects into her designs. The pieces are made from silk and wool (crafted by hand wool felting and nuno felting). It was inspired by the patina tracery on an old cracked vase unearthed in a treasure-trove. From whatever angle you look at the vase you see that each fragment has unique lines, various cracks and bruises that make the object mesmerizing and gives it greater meditative value. There is a feeling you can trace vase’s life since its impermanence is evidenced in its patina and wear. Irina sought to create 3D garments with the same sort of unpredictable delineations where the clothing reflects romantic passes of life.
Irina is known for her craftsmanship and attention to detail as she tries to interpret natural forms and find new ways to accentuate the female figure.
