Giorgia Rosano; based in Milan, originally from Switzerland, I’m a womenswear Fashion Designer. After my graduation at NABA - Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, I attended the master course as Fashion Designer at Domus Academy in Milan. One of my main curiosity are textiles, mainly their origins, histories and compositions. For me the material is the highlight of a collection. With my collections, I always try to tell stories, stories that often have as main point the trip.

The topic I have chosen and analysed draws inspiration from the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. Starting from the hanging gardens, I identified two macro-topics: the world made of slogans of stylist Katharine Hamnett, who inspired me for her streetwear style taken from the ‘80s, and in particular, her “Slogan T-shirts”. Research in the structural world through materials and treatments. In searching for my ideal women, I focused on the 80s’ New York underground style, thus choosing an extremely rebellious, visionary and shabby character: Patti Smith, who was nicknamed “punk poet laureate”. Moreover, I focused my attention on her clothing since it is a unique style, characterised by long, messy hair, and an accentuated man’s look. In the project, I also studied indepth the sphere of natural dyes, Jakob Schlaepfer textiles and the history of the T-Shirt.
