Dante Leo Capasso

dante Leo Capasso is an Italian creative based in Florence.

they made their background studying and working in the fashion field as a designer and consultant - specialized in print, textile, conceptual fashion, critical research, and sustainable industrial methods - and also experiencing mutualism and grassroots culture thanks to collectives, squats, and occupied social centers around Florence and Europe that welcomed them and involved them in their fight and claims. Those experiences forged their way to see and study fashion as a strong, political weapon, that people can control or be controlled by.

In the last two years, Dante started several performative and installation researches based on fashion politics, decolonization and post-human critique. During pandemic period, they started the process of building an ethical craft clothes brand that is also a guerrilla collective called Memoria Collettiva. The brand claims to use the prints on the garments as the storyline to be shared and reinterpreted by a group of underground artists of Florence who share and mix their unique practices with others. starting from this project, Dante are now building a generative performance to be brought to Bologna on february 2023.

Since the last October Dante are been nominated permanent resident along with other 13 artists of GADA Playhouse, a medieval/baroque church taken by a charity organization that became the point of the artistic resistance who fights the massive touristification and capitalization of the city center of Florence using mutualism and sharing artistic practices of high level.
