‘Wear to Play, Play to Wear' is the general concept and spirit of COY, an indepedent designer label led by Janice Chung who graduated from Central St. Martins in London. During the time in London, she gained the opportunity to work for Alexander Mcqueen where she was involved in designing prints and surface textile embroideries; she also worked for Elspeth Gibson and explored the way to make professional quality coutures, she involved a lot on embellishments and appliqués; she worked for Laura Lees Label and learned about tapestry embroidery. Janice relocated back to Hong Kong after graduation, she launched her own brand COY. The brand started off with scarf collection, the styles have been described as edgy, quirky, playful and colorful. COY scarves signature is playing with print fabric blocks and matching with contrasted color tassels.They are art pieces made of unique fabrics and trims, involves a lot of in-house print designs and specially dyed tassels. Janice, the COY founder, enjoys the scarf-making process, as she believes prints and colors can stimulate one's mood and temper, helping and contributing to make the world a happier place.
