Collection – Alice Fern

The focus of my collection is on movement and textiles, looking at how twisting material on top of and around the body in an unusual way can both restrict and enhance mobility. One of the most important factors in the collection is the preparation of the cloth; bleach ombre print is combined with different textile techniques to form a base to my garments. By adding unique surface texture it helps to further effect the movement of the garments through restricting the fabric, as well as acting as a contrast to the natural fluidity of the material. The combination of these techniques, alongside unusual cutting, and drape ensures that each look is beautifully unique, and aesthetically powerful.

London based designer Alice Fern attracted attention for her unique textile based graduate collection earlier this year. Taking draping to its max, the brand encompasses exaggerated, distorted silhouettes with a feminine beauty. Each piece combines unusual draping and cutting techniques with innovative fabrications to make one of a kind, innovative pieces. Every piece is striking, a statement meant to be worn by confident, yet effortless women with an individual sense of style. With a background studying womenswear at the prestigious University of Westminster, and Textiles at Loughborough University, as well as a wealth of experience working for companies such as Chloe, Matthew Williamson, and Christopher Kane. It would not be surprising if this new talent was to continue to develop her career with great success.
