“The Sheltering Sky” is a novel by American author and composer Paul Bowles, first published in 1949. The story follows a married couple, Port and Kit Moresby, as they travel to North Africa in the years following World War II.
In this sense, the novel can be seen as a meditation on the central themes of existentialism, including the search for authenticity and the need to confront the fundamental uncertainties of human existence.
