Desert & Denim is a festival for entrepreneurs, artisans, and idealists. Our partners blaze trails, create opportunity and inspire others to do their best work. Desert & Denim has grown exponentially since its first gathering in 2015, both in size and in scope. A turnout of 12 brands has grown to 100. The weekend now stretches over three days and four nights. Live music is still central to creating the Desert & Denim vibe, and now you can attend lectures, panel discussions, workshops and demos. Additionally, we are capping off the festival with an outdoor movie night. This year, an entire day is devoted to partner-only symposiums and events — including a poolside cocktail party to ease into the weekend. We know bigger isn’t always better. In 2018, our goal is to build growth on the foundation of community.

Who You Are

We need to stop calling customers and fans consumers. That is a one dimensional title that limits how you view and interact with the people that support you. We feel the same way about calling you vendors. You are our partners. Without your unique vision, help and participation, there would be no Desert & Denim. Following is a list of what defines our ideal partner. You may not meet all the criteria, but you’re probably striving to.

Who (owner/creator) | Your brand is owner operated and led by dedicated craftspeople. You may not sew the jeans, weave the shirts, or spin the yarn, but maybe at some point you did. Maybe you still do. At the least, you have a dedicated interest in every part of your business.

What (product) | What you make is durable, lasting, trend averse, sustainable and authentic. It is the antithesis of “fast fashion.” Your crafts today are the heirlooms of tomorrow. You don’t design and create just for the next season. You plan for your products to last for generations.

Where (production) | Our partners can easily answer “Where does this come from?” It’s not good enough to hold up a finished product and declare its quality without talking about everything that went into it. Whether it’s the cotton that makes the denim in your jeans, the hides that are the leather in your boots, or the many hands that brought those materials to you — you are responsible for knowing the conditions that surround each step. You are concerned with making your goods in a fair and sustainable way through supply chain transparency.

When (heritage) | You are trend adverse. You are immediately skeptical when something is described as hot, or “of the moment.” Our partners should have personal ties to the design, manufacturing, or materials of their crafts. Heritage does not mean stuck in the past. Heritage means we uphold the traditions of manufacturing quality handworks and apply them to our modern world, but we are not bound by them. Our partners look to the past while always moving forward.

Why (integrity) | You saw something that could be improved — made to last longer, function better, lessen the environmental and societal impact of its production — and you set out to improve it. You had a story to tell and a voice to tell it with, and couldn’t keep quiet. The term “Exit Strategy” should be unknown to our partners. “Good enough” should never cross your mind.

Ingram Connor Rec Center | Located directly below the Community Center. Steps from booths and tables, and next to the Joshua Tree Pool Club. The Rec Center is where all demos and workshops will be held.

Lost Palms Wellness Center | Relax, detox, and get scarred for life. Recover from last night’s revelry with acupuncture, ayurvedic and traditional massage. Or commemorate this year’s festivities with a tattoo. Step outside and enjoy a glass of kombucha or smoothie and some healthy snacks. To be a featured partner in the Wellness Center tent, please contact Tobias@desertanddenim.com for more details.

Cap Rock Amphitheater | Saturday evening, boogie till you barf at Cap Rock Amphitheater. Set the night ablaze, and burn up the dance floor while grooving to farout cosmic sounds. Sunday night, the mood changes as you stretch out under the stars to enjoy an outdoor movie. Grab a beer, some popcorn and your sweetie, and unwind. You’ve worked hard. You deserve it.

Wonder Valley Food Court | Enjoy hot eats and cool treats at our gourmet food truck corral.

Joshua Tree Swim Club | Our own private oasis. Cool off during the day, or heat things up at night during the official JT Swim Club Pool Party. Entry to the public requires membership in the Joshua Tree Swim Club.

Light Park | Camp out in our tree shaded park. Campsites are limited, and only available to exhibiting Partners. We can only reserve a space when we receive your booth or table deposit.

Ridge Cabins | Your home away from home. What happens in the Ridge Cabins...will be known by everyone and held over you for years to come.

Workshops & Demos

Having our partners showcase their skills through a workshop or demo has been an important part of Desert & Denim from the beginning. We will work with you to determine your logistical needs, how many people can attend and what the cost would be. All demos and workshops will be free to the public. You are welcome to offer particular items for sale to workshop or demo attendees. For example, if you do an indigo dyeing class, you could sell atake home kit.

Past experience has taught us that if you charge for the demo, there is so much else going on at Desert & Denim people will pass it up. We want to make sure you get as much exposure and public engagement as possible. Booth or table deposit must be received before we can schedule your workshop or demo.
