Baia

Owner and designer, Susy, graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2010 with a BA Hons in Fashion, and a love of functional design, which found its natural home when she spent a year with a bespoke bag making company. Susy learnt the design and construction ropes and soon after decided she wanted to do things her way. Baia was born in 2012, from a desire to create, and use the skills Susy had to make beautiful things.
Baia’s original focus was Made to Order pieces. All our bags are handmade in the Baia studio in Britain. We offer a range of styles where the customer has the option to choose leather colours, metal work, strap and lining colour. Our aim was to harness the idea of choice, and an individual end result - people are attracted to the idea of a personalised item made just for them. As a new addition we now also offer a comprehensive Ready to Buy collection, perfect for customers who are less keen to make lots of decisions.
For Susy designing a bag is a dual processes - it has to look great, but it also has to be successfully functional. It's as much a construction plan as it is an aesthetic decision. Susy's best designs are the pieces that stand up to changes in trends from one season to the next because they are easy to use, as well as something lovely to look at.
