Focusing on perception and stigma relating to people from impoverished backgrounds, this collection factors in documentation of addiction and behavior relative to Ned culture. A vast part of research focuses on Scally culture and fetish. Approaching practice with a certain degree of humour, security tags, a kimble gun, and excerpts from The Digger (a crime reporting magazine based in Glasgow) are featured. Gaffer tape is introduced to suggest a poor way of mending but is paired with a variety of luxurious suiting and is enhanced by becoming part of the fabric. Branding is paramount in the Ned wardrobe – the bolder the better, this is explored through swing tag embellishment and is strengthened through screen printed house check formed from text. Silhouette and cut are influenced by collaging with a mix of pre existing tailored and sportswear garments, creating supersized and considered conclusions. Finer details include specifically shaped shoplifting pockets that provide a functional yet thought provoking addition.
