"Were Where You, As The King Of Siam Died?"

My basic inspiration comes from the 7 traditional outfits for Thai women. Created by queen Sirikit and a small crew of designers and Tailors from Paris (including Pierre Balmain), during the early 60is. Queen Sirikit made it her biggest duty to restore the cultural assets that were mostly destroyed before her tenure. To her it was important to make Thailand significant again. While analysing these dresses to understand what makes them relevant, one thing appears to be of importance to me. It is the image of women.

My collection is an Homage to these Women such as Queen Sirikit. It is a women’s collection. It deals with the Short period before a big alteration. With the death of King Bumipol Adulyadej in October 2016, an era of royalty, opulence, peace and tradition has ended. The unknown Future Thailand is facing is an emblematic feeling the world is facing at the moment. Its political conflicts between the military dictatorship and the rebellious opposition is symbolic for a Political world situation.
The Collection wants to return the validity of Fashion in terms of Politics and wishes to affect a cultural situation. It sets out to empower the wearer and makes her feel comfortable within her femininity.
The cause of the Collection is to convey a certain role of femininity.
Thai women appear with smartness and distance. They are erotic but never vulgar. They seem to have found the perfect balance between modern emancipation and cultural tradition.
