Why this name?
At a Young age, I experienced very toxic relationships . I kept this insecurities and fears to my self scared to be judged and weak in the eyes of others. This low moment gave me courage to open up to this incredible women I have in my life. It’s hard to put into words how much this women have influenced and inspired me to fight for my happiness. As words are not my strength I created a collection to celebrate all three of them.
I created a structure for the design process, which consisted on:
stand development through pulling, ripping or cutting garments through moulage representing the suffering and creating new silhouettes by playing with panelling, layers and misplacements.
then came the Reshaping of the garments in to a feminine but bold silhouette. this resulted in misplaced neck lines that feel as if they had been physically pulled, wrap around cuffs, deconstructable pants and lingerie features starting to be externalised.
More over I introduced colour representing the light and strength I received form this women (mint, fuchsia, blue). Colour allowed me to visually represent my transformation, from traumatic brokenness to healing strength.
Finally I developed intricate finishings for each garment to bring back the beauty and delicacy.
Fabric choice was also extremely important. All the white poplin used came form recycled bed sheets helping me bring the presence of an intimate moment. I concisely respected the bed sheets finishings, in some cases enhancing the open seems of the garments caused by the pulling in the moulage. More over the contrast between the fluid silks and the leather allowed me to portray the balance between strength and delicacy. All leather pieces have post partum body shapers introduced in them. Body shapers enabled me to introduce this visual imagery of transformation.
for the accessories I developed a see through body shield that appears to have movement but in reality is stiff, reinforcing that idea of protection and strength. the bags feature a metallic scaffold which transmits the importance of the support my mum and my two sisters give me. Introducing a see through material in all the accessories was important as it allowed you to see all the layers os inspiration underneath each garment.
All this said, this collection is for them.
Thank you: Mama; Margaux, Eugenia.
