In 1964, in the small but alluringly beautiful Portuguese island and ‘pearl of the Atlantic’, Madeira Island, the inception of ALVES began. Recognising a need in her community, Beatrice Alves, a skilled seamstress, built a business tailoring fashion pieces in Agua de Pena that thrived throughout her lifetime. In 1980, this inspired her daughter to take the helm of ALVES across the sea to England and advanced her knowledge by graduating from the London College of Fashion. Though never forgetting the journey of his family and always remaining true to the distinct ALVES dressmaking style,
Justin Alves is now, with a focus on liberation through attire, bringing his own approach to the brand.

Specialising in Knitwear and Leisure from The Royal College of Arts, Justin followed the trajectory of his family by beginning his own business tailoring knit & leisurewear for the community in his hometown, Nottingham. He was selected to showcase his work in Liberty’s London and Vogue, and has collaborated with names like Lora Piano, Swarovski and Burton’s London, as well as offering online access to his clothing worldwide.
The ALVES collection is a luxury line of garments that merges unique fabric combinations, innovative textures and progressive styles to form a ensemble that is designed to evoke a sense of freedom when worn. ALVES is made for the adventurers, the aspiring and for who know where they are coming from and for those who know where they want to go. . .
