The SS2013 Collection, Double Decker, takes inspiration from the collective result of the visual elements of the city of Mumbai in tandem with the lives and habits of Mumbaikars. Specific to the work presented, I have elements of the public transport, like BEST Buses and Rickshaws; infrastructure and architecture of the city, such as the Sealink and roads; to our cultural lifestyle of Chowpatty here in the city. There are 7 inspiration sections to the collection, honouring different aspects of Mumbai. Each inspiration diversifies into a range of saris, unisex shirts and structured women’s garments. The entire capsule collection aims to celebrate the essence of Mumbai in its entirety from the playfulness of cotton candy sold on the streets to the green parakeets flying off from tangled wires. This collection pays homage to this city that is always buzzing with a flurry of sights, sounds and utmost vivacity.
