VOODOOJEWELS

There is an instinctive link between the human beings and other living systems. The Voodoo Jewels collection Fall / Winter 2014-2015 originates from “ Biophilia hypothesis”, a theory the socio-cultural American biologist Edward Wilson developed "Biophilia" is the biological predisposition to seek contact with the natural forms. It is the attraction of individuals of our species towards other forms of life, animal or plant that may be, and is expressed in the connections that human beings subconsciously seek with the rest of the life that surrounds them. Through three different capsules, the collection explores the animal, the floral and geological world. The three main categories which constitute the nature surrounding us. Reptilia is composed of thread, bronze and silver like jewellery that wraps the body by sensual curves. The woman is seen as a saviour angel, but featuring an incantatory and dangerous beauty. Is a tempting serpent with an irresistible sensuality, a typical figure of the imaginary Art Nouveau which the lightweight frames and sinuous jewels are inspired by, and the pearl which are the symbol of purity and emotions. Entirely made of burnished silver, Mineralia is a collection resulting from the technical study of crystal surfaces that make up the stone in its raw state. The metal, forged by creating mottled hybrid mineral, is enhanced by the sparkle of the stones, which illuminate the organic silver jewellery in the grip. The Tropicalia capsule instead tells the story of a journey to discover the unexplored rainforests. Here natural treasures, exotic flowers, colourful creatures mysterious and multiform are hidden, which inspire the organic and unusual jewellery.
