A Hybrid of Fashion and Art
Concept label unamono creates fashion – scarves and foulards made from high-quality textiles. What sets the label apart is its focus on artistic means: unamono produces editions of designs, each of which are created by international artists to represent a story from the life of fictional characters Una and Mono. The wide range extends from famous designer Erik Spiekermann to award-winning illustrators Rafael Alvarez and Peter Diamond, to professor of typography Mariko Takagi and highly respected US creative director Susanna Dulkinys. Each artist uses different creative tools – illustration, typography, painting or photography - to develop an innovative and unique visual perspective, thus giving rise to unamono’s blend of fashion and art. unamono is represented by a very particular handwriting – the handwriting of many.
unamono works as a fashion-gallery. International artists project their interpretations of stories about the fictional characters Una and Mono. The artists realise these visual interpretations using the creative medium of their choice: illustrations, typography, painting or photography. The high-quality handrolled silk twill scarves thereby created are available as exclusive collector's editions - each piece a unique. The methods of the various artists capture the tales of Una and Mono in a visual context. Thus, unamono cooperates with each respective artist to develop a visual language that is new and distinct from any other.
