This concept for this collection is concealed combat, an armouring of womenswear. This is created by integrating traditional military clothing and detailing into luxury garments. Prime examples include, a fully sequinned military parka, jackets armoured with jets and military M65 jacket with a bow tied in the back.

Sophie Hulme graduated last year from Kingston University and was awarded Student of the Year and Best Collection. After much interest in her graduate collection she set up her own label a month later.
Having grown up in North London she now works from a studio in Islington.
The debut A/W 08 concept is one of concealed combat, an armoring of womenswear: created by integrating traditional military clothing and detailing into luxury garments.
The result is a luxury look. It is not military or utility as such, but has a hard edge. Menswear influences and hard detailing give feminine pieces a certain toughness. Many pieces from the current collection have also been sold as menswear.
These garments are designed to be special and kept. Every item is a key piece with a real emphasis on quality. A/W 08 focuses on a selection of luxury outerwear, bags and hats. S/S 09 will build on this with the introduction of key dresses and jewelry pieces.
Each season has a chosen trinket that comes with every garment. Such as the A/W 08 whistle inspired by airforce bomber jackets. Dedicated buyers can collect these along with various chains and attachments to create individual oversize charm necklaces.
The unique approach and style of the brand quickly gained interest. Sophie has already been featured in several articles including WGSN and JC Report. From September the debut collection will be stocked in stores worldwide including Selfridges (London), B-Store (London), Convenience Store (London), Bettina (Greece) and Space Mue (South Korea.) Many other stores have already expressed interest in a preview of the S/S collection.
