SMITH_GREY

The collection materializes the contrast between the undefined and defined as it merges textures and imperfections with refined geometric shapes found in the cityscape of Palermo. Designed during a trip to Palermo, Italy, this collection materialises the traveling state of mind that has absorbed its surroundings in a both holistic and detailed manner. Materials: silver, oxidised silver and gold vermeil. “It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.” – Ernest Hemingway

SMITH/GREY uses jewellery as a narrative medium to unlock the imagination and awaken curiosity. Their handmade objects of desire combine sophisticated design with a sense of wonder inspired by memories, stories and traditions.
Excited by observations centered on their surrounding visual and human culture, SMITH/GREY creates high quality wearable jewellery designs out of their London based studio.
Founded by jewellery designer Birgit Marie Schmidt and creative strategist Sofus Graae, their designs are an expression of their Central European and Scandinavian background in combination with their British education and lifestyle.
At the core of the company is the goal of delivering the highest quality product made with integrity, passion and awareness. Each design is intended to bring an inspired and sophisticated edge to the jewellery market and ultimately, into your hands and home.
In 2011 the collection “I Can’t Seem to Get Rid of the Horses” received the Theo Fennell ‘Best in Jewellery’ Graduate Award and the Wolf&Badger Graduate Award for Jewellery.
