DESCRIPTION:
Graduate Collection: Initially inspired by the song 'Mariella', a story of a young girl who created a world inside her head and stayed there, despite the struggle with her mother and society who try and force her to fit in, I expressed this struggle through fabric manipulation, cut and sizing, while reinforcing the notion of the misfit. In essence, it looks at the struggle to express yourself through forced upon ideals and the importance of creative freedom, imagination and expression of true self.VIDEOS

Siobhán O'Callaghan
Born in Bath, England and moved to Ireland in 1997 where I studied Fashion design for four years at the Limerick School of Art and Design, graduating with a First Class Bachelor of Arts (HONS) Degree.
My work lends itself to a conceptual approach, expressing ideas and words through images, experimentation and development aswell as a fascination with any creative process.
My design style combines creative cut with softer fabrics, creating a more relaxed look, then layered with tougher fabrics to establish a hard edge. Detailing such as deconstruction and japanese pattern cutting techniques are worked in to simplistic silhouettes that are easy to wear.
I also possess an aptitude for writing, combined with a keen interest in high fashion/design publications and photography.
