Inanthe Dress

This piece is from a collection based on the ‘Swans’, who were a clique of very glamourous and wealthy women, whom the author Truman Capote regarded as his dearest friends. Capote referred to them as his ‘Swans’, because they were usually gorgeous, graceful creatures with beautiful ‘plumage’. Truman was inspired to use the word swan by a passage he’d read in a nineteenth-century journal by Patrick Conway, a poetic young gentleman who wrote that he had seen “a gathering of swans, an aloof armada... their feathers floating away over the water like the trailing hems of snowy ball-gowns” and was reminded of beautiful women. These women had amazing taste and wardrobes and the theme of the collection was about dressing appropriately and originally for every occasion. Inspired by the ‘Swans’, I have tried to create a collection where every piece is the most luxe, glamourous and edgy it can be, thereby working with this idea of appropriate and glamourous wardrobe pieces.
