A voluminous coat made with Italian technical fabric with the turquoise colour representing the couture aspect of the collection. It has two concealed pockets on each side seam and is constructed in a half kimono half sleeve cut with several box pleats to create a drape giving a voluminous silhouette. The front is made to drape with no fastening and has been cut with very narrow sleeves to give a sharp sleeve silhouette.
This piece is inspired by a scene from the movie 'The Red Shoes', where the prima ballerina, Victoria, is wearing a huge turqouise dress with a long turqouise cape tied to her neck and a little tiara while walking up a long staircase. It's a beautiful image and this coat is made to reflect this iconic scene. This was the first piece I designed for the collection and therefore it is the main piece for me. It was very difficult to cut the piece due to it's massive volume and I decided to fasten it due to the beautiful drape it created. It's cut like a kimono coat and a half coat with a cape all in one and the fabric is very light and beautiful in colour and texture.
