LULU LIU AW 2012 - Hallucination of the clown. The two main sources of inspiration for this new Lulu Liu collection are Dalian landscapes and Clowns. The collection shows a sense of disconnected reality, which comes from Salvador Dalí paintings. These have been translated into garments so the surreal images become wearable. The use of vibrant hand painted colours give the prints dream like qualities giving the collection a sense of hallucination. Key highlights of the collection is a feminine reworking of the clown shirt which redefines the typical silhouette and collar shape to create a unique garment. Other collection highlights are heavy pleats that are balanced and softened by coloured bands of fur and organza. The whole collection is very tactile and visually appealing and geared more towards a ready to wear audience.
