O

Reduction and tactility are the concepts underlying the FW12 collection signed O-POSE. O is a letter, a shape, a sound, an allusion. O-POSE is the pose of O in opposition. It is a brand, as well as an experimental lab, that sails through the forgetful present and globalized world of fashion on a boat of ideas about craftsmanship and research in form. We feel the need to create objects that are somehow timeless, or rather perpetual, that could exist around us not only as adorning fashion accessories, but as objects that offer something in return, that create a tactile as well as a playful experience. They don’t only cover your shoulder, your neck or your back, but also give something in return: unselfishness, versatility and playfulness. The FW12 is the example of a reduction strategy, both in material and in color, that aims to present itself as a set of honest, straight-forward objects. The protagonists are felt and leather, and the palette is black, greys and earth tones with a drop of vermillion red that minimally punctuates here and there. The bags are all unlined, with raw cuts and with evident hand-sewn details, that render each individual bag unique. The lines are enveloping the body, or vertically flowing around, in a juxtaposition of structure and non-structure, with alternating feminine and masculine features. The materials are all tactility-queens, carefully hand-felted merinos and cashmere, nubuck and suede mixed with natural un-dyed wool felt. Accessories include hand-felted shawls, scarves that become turbans, long-haired hats, merinos earrings and bracelets made of peculiar leather. The general color combination rule is tone-on-tone, that allows the underlining of a play of contrasting textures, while maintaining a minimalism in form. Every single choice is both an aesthetic and an ethic choice that the material itself, with its configuration and history, requires from us. We fight to stay close to that principle.

About the Designer

O's picture

O is based in Rome, Romania. Her collections are produced in Italy.

O was born in 2010 from the collaboration between two Rome based Romanian artists, Mirela Pribac and Dina Dancu.
With a background in fine art, the two designers are guided by a simple principle: giving form to materials with high textural qualities, the form that the materials themselves require.
O proposes contemporary jewelry and bags that can change form and function, that are organic and grow out of the body, where texture is primordial. As creation in all fields is actually the extension of one's life, body and mind, in the same way O is a mirror of the two designers, featuring longitudinal forms, egg shaped curves here and there, minimal shapes and an earth tones palette.
